Star Wars…. if it were told through Anakin Skywalker’s Instagram Adventures
I’M SORRY I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS IS A THING THAT EXISTS I just got too excited about the new Clone Wars and-
This could either be a modern AU, or an alternate universe where everything is exactly the same… except everyone has instagram. (let’s be real this universe would involve a lot more bad hashtags, ~dramatic filters~ and check-ins at Mustafar)
Truth be told, this happened because I’ve always thought that the ring motif in the right circle looked like the rebel alliance insignia. So that was a loose excuse to take a Mucha piece and redo it with a Star Wars theme, which is oh so original but consider it practice I guess.
Even though the right circle - Laurel/Leia drew me to this idea at first, I ended up working with Ivy/Padme first, which just makes me laugh because I’m not really fond of her, lol.
But yay!! Drawing things again!!!
Drawing things again but starting new pieces and ignoring all the WIPs on my desktop yayyyy
English artist Craig Davison creates series of paintings that beautifully illustrate the awesome power of childhood imagination and our limitless ability to play pretend as our favorite movie characters. He draws from a wide variety of movies, but the pieces seen here all revolve around Star Wars.
Kids play their hearts in the foreground while their shadows loom larger than life in the background as the fictional characters they’re pretending to be. Tree branches have become light sabers, cardboard tubes and a hair dryer work equally well as blasters, a garbage can and a colander are all you need to be R2-D2 and C3PO, and a pair of headphones serve as Princess Leia’s cinnamon bun hairdo.
Visit Craig Davison’s website to check out more of his delightful and nostalgic artwork. Then go grab a tree branch and meet us at the park for a light saber duel.
