Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi - “The Sandstorm” Deleted Scene

After Jabba’s barge explodes, our heroes rendezvous once more before taking off and going their separate ways, but they end up having to struggle through a tremendous sandstorm to get to their ships. Chewbacca has been wounded during the battle, and is hobbling along with the help of Luke and Lando. They reach their ships and prepare to part, exchanging feelings and farewells.

This scene would explain how everyone got on and off the planet. Parked out in the desert here is the Milennium Falcon and Luke’s X-wing. The script also mentions a two-seated Y-wing being there as well.

See the script, photos, and a small video clip from this scene HERE.

Padme being badass. I love this chick.

The fact that scenes like this were not put into the movies is one of my biggest problems with the prequels. Padme’s passion for her people and her determination in the political sphere were established in The Phantom Menace but were rarely mentioned in Attack of the Clones or Revenge of the Sith. Or more accurately, the mentions that are made, are subtle and easily looked over. The focus of the movies is Anakin and Padme’s role in a lot of ways is relegated to her relationship with him. We, the viewers, know that’s not all that she is, but with how much her political life was cut out of the movies, it’s hard to remember that sometimes.
